CHALLENGE
The extreme conditions of mining, for example ranging temperatures as well as dampness and corrosion, put a lot of strain on the machinery. Our customer Normet manufactures digging and tunnel machinery for challenging mining condi-tions. Ruukki and Normet developed together the cabin of the RBO underground transportation vehicle based on close attention to the needs of the customer. One of the biggest challenges was designing the air-conditioning, essentially because of the rock dust. Challengingly, the price level of the whole project has been prone to rising too high.
