Grout was injected into the piles so that it seeped through holes in the pile between the pile and the earth. Once dry, the grout transferred the load to the surrounding load bearing soil stratum, while also protecting the pile from corrosion. Some parts of the building were so cramped that the piles had to be taken to the site one by one. The total length of the piles used was 2.5 kilometres.
